What it’s like to work with me as your interior designer.

So, you’re thinking about working with an interior designer—exciting! But if you’ve never done it before, you might be wondering: How does it actually work?

I believe that good design is a collaborative process. My job is to take your ideas, elevate them, and make sure they translate into a space that’s both beautiful and functional. Here’s how we get there, step by step, together.

Step 1: Getting in Touch & Discovery Call

The process starts when you reach out via my website or email. I’ll reply with:

  • An email to acknowledgment of your enquiry

  • My services & pricing guide so you know what to expect

  • A timeframe for when I’ll be in touch for a call, and my current availability

Within a couple of days, I’ll follow up with a discovery call. This is a chance for us to chat about your project, see if we’re a good fit, and figure out if you’re ready to work with a designer.

I’ll ask things like:

  • What are you hoping to achieve and where do you think you need help?

  • Do you have a realistic budget in mind?

  • What’s your style? Do you have inspiration images?

I’ll step you through my process and of course, you can ask me anything, too! If it all feels right, we’ll book an initial in-home consultation to dive deeper.

Step 2: In-Home Consultation & Detailed Proposal

This is where we get into the real details. I’ll come to your home so we can walk through the space together and discuss:

  • What’s working—and what’s not?

  • What challenges are you facing? (Lack of storage? Awkward layouts?)

  • What do you want this space to feel like?

  • How does the space need to grow with you and your family over the years

During this session, I’ll provide initial guidance and insights into how we can improve your home. It’s a deep dive into your needs, and by the end, I’ll have a clear understanding of the scope.

From here, I put together a detailed proposal outlining:

  • Inspiration images to confirm we’re aligned on aesthetics

  • Scope of works & inclusions so you know exactly what’s covered

  • A proposed timeline and fee breakdown for the design phase

Once you’ve reviewed and signed off, we move into concept development.

Step 3: Concept Development

Now the fun begins! This is where your vision starts to take shape.

3D Visualisation & Design Rationale – I model your space in 3D and create a comprehensive presentation that includes:

  • 3D renders of the space

  • The thinking behind my design decisions

  • Proposed materials & finishes

  • Initial product cost estimates

Along with the presentation, I provide a recorded video to walk you through the design details before we meet in person.

In-Person Meeting & Sample Review – We then sit down to go through the concept in detail and look at material samples together. From here, I make final refinements, update any visuals if needed, and once you’re happy—the concept is officially approved.

Step 4: Design Documentation

Now, it’s time to get technical. I produce a full design documentation package, including:

  • Scaled floor plans – Ensuring your space is functional and well-planned.

  • Elevations & technical drawings – Detailed joinery and cabinetry specs.

  • FFE (Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment) schedule – A full breakdown of finishes, fittings, and fixtures.

This is the blueprint for your project—it ensures builders, joiners, and trades have everything they need to bring your space to life.

Step 5: Connecting You With Trades & Construction Check-Ins

During the construction phase I provide ongoing support to ensure the design intent is upheld and help answer questions that come up.

  • I can introduce you to builders and trades I trust.

  • I’m happy to review quotes and shop drawings before you sign off with your selected contractors.

  • I attend the site at key stages to ensure the design intent is being upheld.

Your beautiful home awaits!

My role is to make sure the final outcome reflects the design vision we created together.

At the end of the project, you’ll have a space that’s been thoughtfully designed and carefully considered—one that fits your lifestyle and looks incredible for years to come.
