Frequently asked questions
How long does a kitchen renovation take?
A kitchen renovation will typically take three months from demolition to completion. It’s important to obtain a work schedule from your builder and cabinet maker to understand the impact to your life and home.
As your designer, I’m always conscious of the impact a renovation has, so material selections are paramount to ensuring items are available and in stock so that lead times don’t hold up progress onsite.
How does an interior designer add value to a kitchen renovation?
As your kitchen designer, I work closely with you to understand the current challenges you have with your space, delivering bespoke solutions that not only give you a beautiful new kitchen, but enhance how you use the space.
I focus on -
cabinetry styles and materials that work with your aesthetic and budget
workflow layout to maximise how you cook and entertain
connection to adjacent living room spaces and cohesion with other spaces within the home
latest advancements in storage to meet your specific requirements
future proofing to ensure the design works now, and also addresses your future needs (eg children, accessbility)
What should we expect to pay in design fees?
Across the industry, design fees for a mid to high range kitchen can range from $8,000 to $30,000.
At Assembly Interiors, our kitchen projects range from 5 to 10% of the budget depending on complexity, size and a range of factors.
We provide affordable packages to suit your requirements whilst delivering outstanding, bespoke results.
What is the average cost of kitchen renovation?
In my experience, an average kitchen costs from $70,000 but there are many factors that influence this such as -
size and complexity
butlers pantries (eg extra plumbing, electrical, appliances etc)
cabinetry choices
stone preferences
appliances (the sky’s the limit!)
associated building works
I work closely with you to understand your budget and ensure we are designing to suit your goals.
How do we find the right builder or cabinet maker?
Having the right team around you is critical to the success of any home renovation project.
We can help introduce you to skilled builders and cabinet makers, and will work collaboratively with your selected contractors to streamline the overall design and build process.
Can I reuse existing elements in my kitchen?
The reuse of items is particularly important to how I work, however kitchens can prove tricky in this area.
Typically, it is more cost effective and efficient to completely remove the existing kitchen and provide you with a new, fully customised solution that will last you for many years ahead.
However, we will always consider this based on your specific project.
